Wind in your face = unhappy face.

Today I had every intention to ride 100 miles and crash at the next house. I will have to say that 20 mile an hour headwinds on top of 80-degree heat add to that some nasty blisters in unmentionable spots and you end up at a hotel 66 miles into your ride. Sometimes it's okay go a little easier so you can ride the next day. Met up with an interesting couple that have been on the road for five months with their dog riding everywhere. We traded chamois cream 4 a Solar Tent light. Here's hoping that helps tomorrow's ride!! So it's hot out and there's a nice wind that's not playing very nice at all decided to take a break at the local McDonalds because they are everywhere. Some nice lady just gave me $5 for lunch what a sweetheart I tried to say no but she insisted. Fries with extra salt. Add a side if sweet tea and I might fall asleep. 65 more miles today, gulp.

OHIO!!

Hey folks! Made it from Indiana to Ohio today :-) 75 miles give or take a few. I will have to say that so far Ohio is flatter than Indiana. That is very welcomed!! I've been staying with some amazing people that really are just great after a long hot day of riding! Even traded maps with someone who was going west and I was going east. Tomorrow is a lot of miles let's hope that that tail wind is friendly, the temp less hot and the blisters scabbed over.

Day 1 done.

So day one takes me from home to Goshen Indiana. 89 miles 7 hours and 37 minutes 3,500 calories. crazy challenge of this ride so far was the crosswind for the first forty miles or so. It was so windy for some parts of the trip that the power lines are making this really weird sound. Got to Goshen and I'm staying with this really awesome host family. Hot shower and delicious vegan dinner what more could anyone ask for? tomorrow hoping for more of the same :-) also experienced my first what we call 'Trail Magic'. I was about 5 miles from my end point and this lady in a van rolls up stops gets out and gives me a bag of organic lettuce. Sweet :)

Hey folks!

Last week before hitting that open road! Crazy that this trip is about to become a reality.  Somehow between teaching and coaching up till the very last day (literally) have been planning and training for 'this little bike ride'.  Lift off date is Sat May 28th!!!!!! Whoot!  Open road here we come!
